So I heard about how moms are trying to battle their inner demon-ess before they could conquer their kids.
-What movie to watch; what is good what is not.
So far I have not read about MOMS versus TABLETS
I shall not mention any brands here. Not nice, not nice. hehe
But seriously, my kids are hooked on those tablets like nobody's business.
We try to distract them with this gadget, but i guess the gadget took over our job. It kinda backfired.
What I have noticed.
- His fine motor skill became weak.
-His focus towards my conversation lacks.
- He is in his own little YouTube world.
I see a lot of parents trying to 'escape' that hassle of trying to tame their little one on the dining table by shoving that 12 inch gadget in their toddler's face.
Well, I was guilty of that until I see the outcome.
It gets ugly.
I don't know about you MOM #2. Come tell me what you think.
It's scary cos my Lil'Z has this American's gamer accent and also all he talks about is Dinosaurs and Mindcraft.
WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!
Now I even have to lie to him that that gadget is broken and I have to send it for repair.
It's my way of Time Out buddy!
Goodness!

Mom# 2 speaks.
Taking over the spaceship, roger over.
It took me quite awhile to decide on getting a tablet for the little miss. Was weighing on the factor of using it as the last-est ever resort of distraction. Something like our secret weapon, but I will still try to control it.
Right now i am playing the same game you are, Mom#1!
At her age of course, right now I can easily use the Sorry kiddo, i*** is charging or OOPS i misplaced the i***! WHERE IS IT! WHERE IS IT! wildcard and entertain her with other means like talking non-stop (till my jaw hurts. i would like to thank my good talkative genes) or taking her out for a walk and let her embrace nature ha-ha but for older kids like yours; it gets a little more convincing to do ay?
The keyword is moderation.
I am not saying that using the tablet is entirely bad. There are some good that comes out of it. Of course I only allow her to watch educational programs/cartoons.
-The little miss has starts picking up different language.
-The little miss can mimic the way people talk and act.
-The little miss can remember things that were shown and will point out 'UMI, LOOK IS THAT ALICHOPTER. IT IS PINK!' (even though she gets the colors wrong BUT improving day by day)
-The little miss can count and recite her alphabet thanks to YouTube.
I will only use it while we are travelling far (but so far she seemed entertained by whatever shown on the inflight entertainment or the things that i brought along for her to be busy with like coloring (or stickers sticking all over the place hah!)
Otherwise I will limit her usage of the tablet. Same goes for curbing them on watching too much tv. I rather take her out than be stuck at home anyway. Ha-ha. The husband and i are genetically blind as a bat (ok more for me BAHAHA) and I don't want to risk spoiling her eyesight at a younger age.
We parents have to play a part as well. They see what we do. I am guilty myself by checking my phone now and then for updates and emails at home.
GUILTY AS CHARGED YO!
They will observe and wonder "IF THEY CAN DO IT WHY CAN'T I!"
It begins with us parents too.
Sooo put that phone away from your face parental unit.
BETTER BE PRACTICING WHAT YOU PREACH ERDA.
=)
